Youth Softball Evaluations 📢 Important Info
The youth softball skills assessment is scheduled for Sunday, April 18th at the High School Softball Fields. The JV & Varsity fields are between the Middle School and Intermediate Center off East Garfield Street. TIMING 2:00-3:15 p.m. = 2nd, 3rd, 4th graders 3:30-4:30 p.m. = 5th & 6th graders 4:45-5:45 p.m. = 7th & 8th graders WHAT TO WEAR / BRING Mask, Water Bottle, Fielding Mask, Batting Helmet, Bat, Spikes, Glove Please send your player in a jersey or shirt with a number on it to help out the evaluators. PARKING Please park in the IC parking lot between the IC and Middle School. FIRST Come to the sign-in table which will be located on the sidewalk between the Varsity & JV fields. SECOND Make sure you and your player have a mask on and make sure your daughter has a water bottle, fielding mask, batting helmet, bat, spikes, glove, and a jersey/shirt with a number on it. THIRD With 71 players being assessed, parents will not be allowed to be on the fields. You are asked to wait in the parking lot. FOURTH To reduce the amount of people coming and going between sessions, once the players have completed their skill assessment they will come to you so we can avoid congestion. ————————– Players will be evaluated by independent evaluators in the following skills: THROWING U8 level will play regular catch with no pitching.  They will be evaluated on how they can throw and catch from approx 15′.  U10/U12/U14 will be evaluated during fielding drills. PITCHING U10/U12/U14 ONLY: if your daughter has interest in pitching we need to know at the sign-up table when they arrive.  Each player will get 15-20 pitches total from the regular pitching distance in the pitching lanes. FIELDING Each player will make 3-5 throws to 1st base from each of the infield positions.  U10/U12/U14 ONLY: will get 3-5 fly balls in the outfield and will need to demonstrate the ability to catch the fly ball and throw to 2nd base.
