Last Call for Board Member Candidates—Annual Election Approaches

Monday, December 8, 2025 @ 7PM
Mount Horeb Chamber of Commerce Building
300 East Main St. (back door of building)
Our annual board elections will take place on Monday, December 8, and we have three essential positions that must be filled: Treasurer, Vice President, and Advisor. These roles are critical to keeping our club running. Without volunteers stepping into these leadership positions, the Mount Horeb Softball Club will not be able to continue operating in the same capacity starting January 1, 2026.

Our current board includes three members who have served since the club’s inception, nearly 10 years ago, including those who have not had kids in the program for quite some time. We are at a pivotal moment where families with younger players need to step forward so we can keep the program strong and functioning to its fullest capacity.

As a board, we handle a wide range of responsibilities that directly support both our youth players and the high school program. This includes:investing in the softball complex improvementsoffering local, low-cost youth clinics for pitching, hitting, and skill developmentsupporting high school teams through event nights, senior banners, team posters, and apparel coordinationorganizing youth teams, rostering, and league registration providing training, coordination, and support for youth coachesmanaging field care and prep for practices and gamescoordinating umpire training, scheduling, and payment for all youth gamesAll of this—and more—is only possible with a full and active board and many of these items will be in jeopardy without additional commitment.

For those who don’t fully understand what the softball club’s leadership has accomplished over the past ten years please consider just the facility improvements that have been completed:installed sound systempoured concrete beyond backstops on both fieldsupgraded electrical outlets in the concession stand as well as added chest freezer and popcorn machinepurchased and installed bleachers at field #1played an integral role acting as the general contractor providing labor and also paid a portion of the cost for field lighting on field #1installed two batting cages with tee nets and electrical outlets for pitching machines; replace net savers on a regular basis and cage #1 net once since cage installationinstalled storage shedinstalled outfield fence at field #2installed concrete floor and steel covered dugouts at field #2installed pitching lanes in the outfield and along both first and third base lines on field #1replaced numerous sections of fencing on both fields and added structural supports to reduce denting behind home plate and first baseadded foul poles on both fieldsrefurbished and painted both dugouts on field #1 In 2026 the Club has already put the following projects in motion:work with school to purchase under fence mow strips for both fieldspurchased fence toppers for field #1working to replace back stop fencing at field #2If you care about supporting youth sports, want to help shape the future of softball in Mount Horeb, or are simply willing to contribute some of your time, we strongly encourage you to consider running. No prior board experience or softball knowledge is required—just a willingness to help and be part of a great program.

Thank you for your continued support. We hope to see you step up and join us on Monday, December 8 at 7 PM at the MH Chamber of Commerce – 300 East Main Street (back door of building).

Step Up to the Plate – Board Members Needed for Our Softball Community

As the 2025 youth season winds down and we prepare for 2026 assessments, we’re reaching out with an important request: please consider joining the MHSC Board.

We’re looking for passionate, dedicated individuals to help guide our club into the future. This is your chance to contribute your skills, energy, and ideas to strengthen our programs and support the players, families, and community that make MHSC so special.

Why now?
We are at a pivotal moment. One seat is currently vacant on our six-member board, and three of our officers—who are also founding members—no longer have daughters in the program. Without new leadership stepping up, the club may be forced to scale back or even dissolve in the near future.

What we’re looking for:
Whether you have experience in fundraising, event planning, marketing, operations, or simply a love for youth sports, your involvement can make a real difference. You don’t need to know softball to add value—we’ll provide support and training while our seasoned board members are still serving.

This is more than just a role—it’s an opportunity to be part of something meaningful and lasting. Help us ensure that MHSC continues to grow, thrive, and serve the next generation of athletes. If you are interested in joining the board or would like to learn more, please reply to this email or contact Kurt directly at kurtadler1@gmail.com. Feel free to share this invitation with others who might be interested.

2024 Softball Club Accomplishments

A huge thank you to all the sponsors, volunteers, committee members, and board members who make everything possible. In addition to celebrating these tangible achievements, we should never forget to celebrate the individual accomplishments and firsts of our players – that first hit, the first home run, the first inning pitched, and for some the first practice and the first game. Thank you to all who have made this year a success and may we never lose sight of these personal accomplishments. We are proud of all our players!! Here’s to an amazing 2025. Go Mount Horeb Softball Nation!!

Many great things have occurred this past year for Mount Horeb Softball Club:

  1. Ten teams comprised of 101 players participated in the summer youth program.
  2. The high school team finished 21-4, 14-0 in conference play and were Conference Champions! The team advanced to the Sectional finals and were the Regional Champions for 4th year in a row!!
  3. Nine teams made up of 85 players have already committed to play on the Club’s youth tournament teams for the 2025 season.
  4. Provided two $250 scholarships to deserving graduating seniors.
  5. Provided two pitching clinics with different instructors to give players and parents the opportunity to experience different approaches to mastering their skills.
  6. Sponsored a catching clinic to teach and advance the skill of the youth.
  7. Tried to host our third Troll Tournament…it was not due to a lack of effort by the tournament committee and numerous volunteers – but mother nature got the best of us and the weekend had to be cancelled.
  8. Another fantastic float and a large group of youth players participated in the Frolic parade.
  9. Completed a very successful calendar raffle fundraiser by our high school and youth players.
  10. Worked at a football concession stand and sold snow cones with our newly purchased snow cone machine.
  11. Finished construction of our second batting cage and expanded the practice pitching area to four lanes. The new cage features a winch system to make net installation and removal easier.
  12. Completed two separate fencing repair/upgrade projects on both fields in conjunction with the Mount Horeb Schools. The mini projects consisted of replacing sections of damaged fencing and adding strength piping in several locations as well.
  13. We were awarded a $4,000 grant from the Mount Horeb Community Foundation for installation of foul poles and fence toppers for both fields in 2025.
  14. Supported the Varsity team with donation of $1,075 to pay for registration for the week of play in Florida during spring break in 2025.
  15. Continued our Chamber of Commerce membership.
  16. Received a generous $1,919 grant from the Mt. Horeb Rotary to help purchase youth gear.
  17. $5,000 in cash donations received from our corporate partners.
  18. $6,000 in material/labor/in-kind/facility donations from our corporate partners (not including MHASD contributions).
  19. 2024 Revenue: $76,307.77 / 2024 Expenditures: $76,681.21
