The MHSC youth program’s end of season party for the U10, U12, and U14 girls took place on Wednesday, August 23rd at Rookies. The girls played on the wiffle ball field and had a lot of fun! Thanks so much to Wendy Steinhauer for organizing the event, and to everyone who attended!

Another job well done! Thanks to Syd Swiggum, Eric Swiggum, and Kurt Adler for installing the home plates at the batting stations located adjacent to the softball batting cage…the improvements keep rolling!!
Thank you to Syd and Eric Swiggum; Amy Rumler; and Abby, Kimmy and Wendy Steinhauer for their efforts in reclaiming the softball batting cage from the weeds. If you are impressed, please feel free to reach out to these amazing people for all your personal weeding and gardening needs. 🙂
Congratulations on the (almost) one year anniversary of the Mount Horeb Softball Club! It has been a very busy and successful year. We have made a ton of positive strides thanks to everyone’s hard work, and the generosity of many local businesses.
Please join us in the conference room at the Grand Stay Hotel in Mount Horeb for our club’s first Annual Meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 21. We will have a brief meeting to cover a few current business items, review the year, look ahead to the coming year, and elect officers for the following positions: Vice President, Treasurer, and Adviser #2. After the meeting we will enjoy some food and company. A sign-up for food will be coming out soon. We hope to see many people there to celebrate the great year we’ve had so far.

This summer is a great time to get involved with a softball related activity!! There are numerous, easy opportunities available right now for you to donate just a couple hours to help out by showing support for the five great youth teams, raising some funds, and helping to grow awareness for softball in Mount Horeb. Following are some things that are happening around town:
Norsk Golf Ball Dunk Tank: The Softball Club is sponsoring a Dunk Tank at the Norsk’s first year celebration on Saturday, July 1st from 3pm-8pm. Barry Larson is looking for players to help run the stand. Please email Barry at blarson2801@yahoo.com if you can help.
Relay for Life: The softball club has been given the opportunity to run a food stand at the Relay for Life coming up Saturday, July 22 from 11:00 AM-11:00 PM. They would need food to be sold from 11:00-1:00ish or 4:00-7:00ish. We need a point person (or two) to step up and run this event. Board members can help brain storm food ideas. Please, let me or Jen Holman holmanjen@mhasd.k12.wi.us know by end of the day on Friday (6-30-17) if you can help out for this great cause. If no one steps forward we will lose this opportunity.
Concession Stand: Please, consider picking a date and spending just a couple hours running the concession stand at the youth games at the high school field. What a great opportunity for high school parents and players to give back to those who ran the stand during the high school season. Training is provided and this is a low stress easy way to give back. One person can easily run things in the concession stand. Please, follow this link to sign up: Please click here to sign up! There are also opportunities to run the scoreboard on any given game night as well if you are interested! Please, contact me with any questions – let’s get this sign up filled please!!
Steering Committee for Field Improvements: We are looking for 4 to 6 adults and several players willing to roll up their sleeves and look at design, layouts and feasibility of numerous field improvement projects. At the June meeting a list of possible undertakings was discussed (complete list to follow soon). This subcommittee will have the unique opportunity to shape the physical look of softball at the Varsity and JV fields for years to come!!
Please, visit the Softball Club website to see all our great youth team’s schedules. www.mohosoftballclub.com
The Softball Club is going to have a Dunk Tank stand at the Norsk’s first year celebration on Saturday, July 1st from 3pm-8pm. Barry Larson is looking for some of the girls from the youth softball teams to help run the stand if available. Please email Barry at blarson2801@yahoo.com if your daughter is interested/available, and if there is a one hour time slot that works best. Or if they just want to stop in and dunk Jen or one of the other coaches. We are hoping to have a couple of their teachers there as well! Cost is $1 per ball or 6 balls for $5, all proceeds going to the Club.
If you are able to help decorate the MHSC parade float, we will have supplies available and will be working on the float this Saturday beginning at 5:00 PM at the Kraemer’s house (3160 Getz Road). If any high school player wants to bring / loan their yard sign that would be great. You could bring it either on Saturday or on Sunday.
Line-up for the parade begins at 11:00 AM on Lincoln Street by the Middle School. We will be there by 11:30 AM so please look for a white truck with a black trailer … hopefully you can’t miss it due to the awesome float decor. 🙂 We will have Mount Horeb Softball Club wrist bands for the girls to hand out!
If girls want to wear jerseys or red t-shirts that works. It will be pretty warm on Sunday so shorts and tennies will probably be most comfortable. If you have trouble finding the float in the line-up on Sunday, please call or text either Jeff Kraemer at 608-575-5783 or Kate Kraemer at 608-239-8207.
Please RSVP HERE if you/your daughter(s) can walk / ride with the float. U10 through High School ages are welcome.
